Sections:

  • Short film Competition
    • Any fictional film or video lasting a maximum of 30 minutes can take part in the competition. There is no limit to the style, nature or technique in the making of the film.
      Open to Italian and foreign film-makers.
      The theme is open in this category.
      The accepted formats are 35mm 16mm Betacam-SP Mini DV VHS.

      - Awards:
        1st place 1,000.00 Euro
        2nd place 775.00 Euro
      - "Mario Celso" Prize (winner of the 1992 Oscar Prize for Inventors, assigned to inventors of technical devices used in film making)
      - Cin Cin Cinema Prize, awarded to a memorable scene or phrase that will carry on into the future and become a quotation.
     
  • Historical Memory Documentaries
    • The Anpi (Italian Association of the "partigiani" participating in the Resistenza War) have proposed this section for films which give particular awareness to historical research and/or documentaries, interviews etc,. Intended for films that will provide a documentation for the impending future. maximum duration 30 minutes. The accepted formats are 35mm 16mm Betacam-SP Mini DV VHS.

      - Awards: 1st place 350,00 Euro
      - Anpi Prize: 350,00 Euro
      - Documentaries Award : 350,00 Euro
     
  • Fixed Film Theme: "Window"

    • Any fictional or documental film or video lasting a maximum of 5 min. There is no limit to style, nature or technique but the film must reflect or interpret the above theme.
      The date of production must not be earlier than 1st January 2002
      Open to Italian and foreign film-makers.
      Open to schools of all levels, participating with films made by the students (Col del Lys Award)
      The accepted formats are Betacam-SP Mini DV VHS.

      - Awards:
        1st place 500.00 Euro
        2nd place 300.00 Euro
      - Col del Lys Award: special prize for the schools awarded by the Col del Lys Committee
      - Environment Award
      - Cin Cin Cinema Prize, awarded to a memorable scene or phrase that will carry on into the future and become a quotation.
     
  • Prize Valsusa Lab

    • Any video lasting a maximum of 10 minutes
      Open theme
      There is no limit to the style , nature or technique in the making of the films..
      Awards will be assigned to the best actors and shootings.
      A section of the Valsusa Lab will be reserved to the "Travel Diary": encounters, displacements, journeys, flights, acquaintances, twinnings…
      The journey as a mean and a strategy:
      to create culture and to do something concrete towards a solidarity between the peoples and the local communities
      to get rid of geographical, cultural, economic borders
      to fight the temptation in the richest societies to keep oneself to oneself and to surrender to impotence
      to create a culture of global empathy towards the others and the world

      The accepted formats are:
      Betacam-SP / Mini DVD 7 Mini DV Cam / DVD / SVHS / VHS

      - Awards:
        1st place: 500,00 Euros
        2nd place: 300,00 Euros
      - Award to the best actor/ actress and the best shooting
      - Special Award section "Travel Diary"
      - Prize " A twinning and a story" awarded by the Twinning Board of Collegno Town
      - Award "Cin Cin Cinema"
  • Electronic or Digital Animation

    • The competition has no theme and is open to any form of digital or electronic animation with a maximum duration of fifteen minutes. Films that utilize sequences of real life images using cinematographic or video techniques will be accepted on the condition that they are applied as a basis for the elaboration of the original animation.

      - Awards: 1st place 300.00 Euro

    Participation rules

    Authors will send a videocassette (VHS) containing only one film, with the entry form attached (VHS containing more than one film will not be taken into consideration).

    There is no enrolment fee. Each author can participate with one work to each section of the competition.
    Shipping charges to be paid by the author, all works selected will not be returned and will be kept in the Valsusa Filmfest archives.
