There is no limit to the style, nature or technique in the making of the film. Open to Italian and foreign film-makers. The theme is open in this category. The accepted formats are 35mm 16mm DVcam - Mini DVcam - Dv - Mini DV - DVD + R / -R - VHS Historical Memory Documentaries The Anpi (Italian Association of the "partigiani" participating in the Resistenza War) have proposed this section for films which give particular awareness to historical research and/or documentaries, interviews etc,. Intended for films that will provide a documentation for the impending future. Maximum duration 30 minutes. The accepted formats are DVcam - Mini DVcam - Dv - Mini DV - DVD + R / -R - VHS Documentaries Competition Any fictional film or video lasting a maximum of 30 minutes can take part in the competition. The accepted formats are DVcam - Mini DVcam - Dv - Mini DV - DVD + R / -R - VHS Schools' competition This section is reserved to schools of all orders.Films lasting a maximum of 10 minutes on the leading themes of the festival: Historical memory and environment. The accepted formats are DVcam - Mini DVcam - Dv - Mini DV - DVD + R / -R - VHS Fixed Film Theme: Resistance To resist To resist conformity, mass media homologation, war as instrument of peace, mafia, hypocrisy, Mc Donald, strong powers To resist your parents, no-commitment attitudes, to appear good at all cost, meanness, resignation To resist land's destruction, racism, mental fixed patterns, common sense, looking more than being To resist corruption, violence To resist when important questions are at stake. Resistance for Existence Any fictional or documental film or video lasting a maximum of 5 min. There is no limit to style, nature or technique but the film must reflect or interpret the above theme. Open to Italian and foreign film-makers. Open to schools of all levels, participating with films made by the students (Col del Lys Award) The accepted formats are DVcam - Mini DVcam - Dv - Mini DV - DVD + R / -R - VHS Prize Valsusa Lab Any video lasting a maximum of 10 minutes, open theme There is no limit to the style , nature or technique in the making of the films A section of the Valsusa Lab will be reserved stories experienced and related by the inhabitants of the Susa valley and transformed in fiction. The accepted formats are: DVcam - Mini DVcam - Dv - Mini DV - DVD + R / -R - VHS Electronic or Digital Animation The competition has no theme and is open to any form of digital or electronic animation with a maximum duration of fifteen minutes. Films that utilize sequences of real life images using cinematographic or video techniques will be accepted on the condition that they are applied as a basis for the elaboration of the original animation. The accepted formats are: DVcam - Mini DVcam - Dv - Mini DV - DVD + R / -R - VHS Jury and awardsThe Festival committee will designate a Jury composed by at least 5 membersAwards: 1st place 1.000,00 Euro 2nd place 500,00 Euro - Prize "Mario Celso" (winner of the 1992 Oscar Prize for Inventors, assigned to inventors of technical devices used in film making) - Cin Cin Cinema Prize, awarded to a memorable scene or phrase that will carry on into the future and become a quotation. Documentaries - Awards: - Prize "Historical Memory/ANPI" 500,00 Euro - - Documentaries Award : 500,00 Euro Prize Valsusa Lab - Awards: 1st place: 500,00 Euros - Award to the best actor/ actress and the best shooting - Special Award to the nicest story: Voucher worth 1.000,00 Euro that can be spent in a Travel Agency to buy a trip - Schools' competition Col del Lys Award: special prize for the schools awarded by the Col del Lys Committee:250,00 Euro Fixed Film Theme: Resistance Awards: 1st place 500.00 Euro 2nd place 300.00 Euro - Environment Award Electronic or Digital Animation - Awards: 1st place 500,00 Euro The payment of the prizes will be made in September/October, after closing all the accounts. Participation rulesAuthors will send a videocassette (VHS) containing only one film, with the entry form completely filled in. Please write clearly.Important: VHS containing more than one film will not be taken into consideration. Duration of the film SHOULD include the titles. Entry form and film to be sent no later than 30th Juanuary 2006 to Valsusa Filmfest Via Roma 1/A 10055 Condove TO. All works that will arrive after the time limit will not be admitted to the competition. There is no enrolment fee. Each author can participate with one work for each section of the competition. Shipping charges to be paid by the author, all works selected will not be returned and will be kept in the Valsusa Filmfest archives. All films produced by THE film industry, national networks and with commercial aims will not be admitted to the competition. The authors authorize the Festival to project (show) their works also outside of the Valsusa Filmfest, for promotional or study purposes, no profit. The organization of the festival will make the selection of the works admitted to the contest, its final decision is indisputable. When admitted, authors will be informed by telephone or fax. Works and authors admitted to the contest will also be published on the FilmFest site. Those who want to send the film in original format will have to send it by the 30th March 2006. No films in original format will be accepted when handed in the same night of the projection.
